The KnowCo Stress Testing (KST) Application

KST is designed to

  • Reduce the significant and fast-growing workload on risk and compliance professionals involved in stress-testing, via
  • Fast, automated uploading of new datasets — from any source
  • Saving and re-running existing scenarios on the latest data
  • Rapid creation of new scenarios or changes to existing scenarios
  • Reduce reliance on user-developed spreadsheets by storing data, scenarios and output securely, in a controlled production environment
  • Enable skilled personnel to focus on stress-testing itself (rather than spreadsheet management)
  • Enable Reverse Stress-testing
  • Enable clearer, better visualisation of stress-testing outputs
  • Enable the necessary harmonisation between credit and liquidity stress-testing (for example recessionary scenarios and credit concentration scenarios

With KST users can perform Liquidity risk stress tests, Credit Risk Capital stress tests and Interest Rate risk stress tests. It facilitates a wide range of stress tests including:

  • Non-marketable Assets (Wholesale and Retail).
  • Marketable Assets (for example Debt Securities, Equities, Commodities, etc.).
  • Wholesale and Retail Liabilities.
  • Intra-Group Assets and Liabilities
  • FX Risk
  • Derivatives
  • Documentary Products (such as guarantees and Letters of Credit).

Users can load their FSA047/048 reports and stress the data contained within the reports, or they can load more detailed balance sheet and cash flow information and carry out stress analysis at a more granular level.

KST is a Windows-based application using most RDMS database infrastructures (for example Oracle and SQL Server).

Stress-testing and reverse stress-testing must be sufficiently severe and transparent to give Boards and senior management teams the confidence that they are fulfilling the spirit as well as the letter of regulatory standards; at the same time, high-quality liquid assets held in the buffer may represent an additional cost which must be optimised within the bounds of individual liquidity guidance.

We would be pleased to give you a demo of KST
